قال النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم

"بُنِيَ الإسلامُ على خمسٍ: شهادةِ أن لَا إلهَ إلَّا اللهُ وأَنَّ محمدًا رسولُ اللهِ، وإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ، وَحَجِّ البَيْتِ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا."

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Islam is built upon five pillars: bearing witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah; establishing the prayer; giving Zakat (charity); fasting during Ramadan; and performing Hajj to the House (the Kaaba in Mecca) if you are able to make the journey.”

Shahada (Faith)

The Shahada is the declaration of faith and the most fundamental pillar of Islam. It consists of bearing witness that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger. This declaration signifies a person's acceptance of monotheism and the prophethood of Muhammad.

Salat (Prayer)

The prayers are a direct connection between the individual and Allah. They are performed facing the Kaaba in Mecca and involve specific physical postures and recitations. Salat serves as a means of seeking guidance, forgiveness, and spiritual closeness to Allah.

Zakat (Charity)

Zakat is the obligatory almsgiving that Muslims are required to give to those in need, typically 2.5% of their accumulated wealth annually. It promotes wealth distribution and compassion for the less fortunate. Zakat helps support the poor, orphans, and various charitable causes.

Fasting in Ramadan

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise (Suhoor) to sunset (Iftar) as an act of worship and self-discipline. Fasting includes abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs during daylight hours. It is a time for increased devotion, reflection, and self-purification.

Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca)

Hajj is the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca, which every physically and financially able Muslim is required to undertake at least once in their lifetime. It takes place during the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah. Pilgrims perform specific rituals, including circumambulating the Kaaba, standing at the plain of Arafat, and symbolically stoning the devil. Hajj signifies unity, equality, and submission to Allah.
